The meeting, according to the reports, is being called for all the party presidents to solicit their views on important subjects such as "one nation, one election" and "150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi". During the meeting, the Opposition leaders raised the issues of unemployment, farmers' distress, drought, and press freedom. According to the reports, they also called for early assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. At the end of the all-party meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said, "We have received suggestions from the Opposition parties as well as our allies.
