That's the question that brought me to thinking about the realities of modern motherhood which feel like a nightmare because it intersects with the systems that prevail in our societies like capitalism and patriarchy. The dark truth about having kids in 2025 a as a woman is the fact that you are punished for it even though many cry about women being childfree and the declining birth rates in many western countries. There are so many women who have hidden the realities of motherhood that cause immense stress in our lives. The truth about motherhood is always being hidden such that when women like Michelle Obama talk about the challenges they went through as women juggling motherhood, career and being a wife, they are told they are ungrateful and creating shame for their families. As a young woman that is constantly being forced to become a mother because that is supposed to be my only job in this world, there are many things that nobody tells you about being a mom today that will affect not only your quality of life, but also that of the children you choose to bring into this world in order to make society happy. Being a mother is not all roses as many like to paint. In fact, motherhood while existing under capitalism and the patriarchy is a total nightmare.
