Michael 'Indidginus' Martin is a maker of music and a self-proclaimed purveyor of quality riddims since 1996. The sound Michael produces is an amalgamation of dubstep, dub and dancehall, tinged with a bit of world music, general electonica and dance, all of which is heavily laced with riddims. He adds an extra element to his music by his adoption of the primitive, breath-driven act of the slide didgeridoo. Linking ecology to industry, he uses this piece of pvc piping for the fusion of tribal rhythms with electronic dance music, which really can't go wrong. The production of his latest album, Sofa Surfer, started a year ago when he visited the UK to gig, deciding that it's best he be productive whilst there and create an album. Taking full advantage of the fact that he would be surfing the sofa's of all his musical friends over there, he incorporated them into the venture and so his album was born. Sofa Surfer has just had its launch party this past weekend at Rubadub at Mercury Lounge and was extremely well received. The performative aspect of the slide didg incorporated into his live set creates an atmosphere for the crowd that leaves them in absolute awe. He has created for himself a style that is so uniquely recognisable, integrating a variety of musical styles together with the didg, which sets him apart from many others in the industry. The album features collaborations with Teba Shumba, EJ Von Lyrik, Steve Newman, Fletcher, Francesca Krnjak, Riccardo Moretti, Colin Angus, High Frequency Bandwidth, Seb Taylor, Tripswitch, Suns of Arqa, Raggasouljah, 7Ft Soundsystem and OOOD. Michael believes that collaborations are a great way to enhance his music production, as each person brings something unique to the table and this has allowed for an album that has a little bit of something for everyone. The official release date is 23rd July 2011 which so happens to be Haile Selassie's birthday, and is available as a digital download via his webpage indidginus.bandcamp.com.
