SAMAA with Young Eagles hosting the "Phillip Lewis" project

We are delighted to present this report on the successful completion of Phase 1 of Project "Phillip Lewis" on Friday, May 9, 2025. Dozens of students visited Nelspruit Airfield for an exciting day, interacting with guests from the aviation industry, including the South African Air Force, ATNS, SACAA, and Kishugu. The Deputy Director General, Mr. S Mkhwanazi, delivered important remarks, while aviators like Mr. D Ralafeta and Ms. Dipoko shared their success stories. A standout student, Ms. Khanya Khoza, courageously addressed the students, sharing her aviation dreams. Ninety-two students participated, all from schools within a 100km radius, with most being grade 11 students with a keen interest in aviation. A complete list of students is attached to this report. Special mention goes to Mr. I Zitha and Mr. G Sambo for their wholehearted support. The students enjoyed scenic flights, courtesy of private sponsors and the EAA, with 92 flights completed on the day. The South African Air Force showcased their stand, and students participated in a model build-off competition for a chance to win an introductory flight. The day was declared a resounding success, with all students receiving EAA Young Eagle certificates. Congratulations to all involved in making this project a success!
