مجلس النواب، البرلمان المملكة المغربية The House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco hosts, from December 12 to 14 in Rabat, the proceedings of the Third Annual General Assembly of the Conference of Speakers and Presidents of African Legislatures (CoSPAL) under the theme: “Legislative Leadership and Parliamentary Diplomacy in a Changing World Order.” The Session will feature the participation of Speakers of Parliaments and parliamentary delegations from various African countries to debate several pressing strategic questions that concern the continent, namely the position of Africa in the world order and the means for edifying robust legislative institutions that can achieve sustainable development. The participants will also discuss the demographic challenges and the avenues of utilizing the talents of African youth, in addition to the questions of security, combatting terrorism and extremism, and the role of scientific research and innovation in supporting public policies. African economic matters and the role of parliamentary diplomacy in addressing geostrategic challenges will be at the forefront of the themes to be discussed during the Assembly. Other working sessions will cover the reinforcement of women’s representation in African Parliaments by announcing the official launch of the project of “Women’s Representation in African Parliaments” (WRAP), in partnership with specialized African and international institutions. Founded in 2020 in Nigeria, the Conference of Speakers and Presidents of African Legislatures (CoSPAL), works on reinforcing coordination and consultation between the Speakers of the legislative assemblies of Africa. Its second General Assembly took place in Ghana in October 2024 and witnessed the election of the Moroccan House of Representatives as member of the Advisory Committee on behalf of North Africa.
