ActRaiser, Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Robotrek and Terranigma—Quintet created some of the most inspired RPGs to ever grace the Super Nintendo. These cult classics are often compared to Squaresoft and Nintendo classics like Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, The Legend of Zelda, and other JRPG classics, but never got the recognition of those more popular titles. In this comprehensive documentary, we also delve into their later games, such as The Granstream Saga, as well as their obscure Japanese releases, like Brightis, Planet Laika, and Solo Crisis. Quintet was formed by Masaya Hashimoto and Tomoyoshi Miyazaki, Nihon Falcom veterans behind the Ys series. They often collaborated with composer legend Yuzo Koshiro, the man behind Streets of Rage's addictive soundtrack. Over the past year, I fell in love with the story and games of Quintet.
