Our storm safety drogue equipment for crossing the atlantic has been in our boat locker since we bought the boat, with a long offshore ocean passage ahead , we need to test rig and figure out how it goes together and how we will deploy it. We have an Australian made sea brake drogue two huge and heavy bags of braided rope two lengths of chain, swivels, shackles and other bits of kit which should all go together to make a drogue we can put out from the boat if we should have a bad storm forecast and need to take action to ride out the high winds and waves in "relative " comfort. We lay out the gear on the pontoon and figure out how it all goes together take pictures and label everything so we can assemble it on deck to deploy and then once the storm has abated know how to recover the drogue without tangling ourselves in it so we can continue our voyage.
