Welcome to episode #10 of Sounds Sick, the format, where we´re gonna present a bunch of cool and/or unusual stuff from our studio! The videos show the sound that really let´s the amp/gear shine , in our opinion. Wether it´s a jangly clean tone or fuzzy rock sound. This time we´re presenting the Laney Pro Tube AOR 100. This is a single channel late 80s tube amp, sporting 4 EL34s and 4 12ax7 tubes. This is the earlier 6 knob version, which does not have the added gain boost yet. Hard Rock at it´s best! This thing roars! Very effective EQ with push-pull knobs for bass, mid and treble, which also add quite a bit of gain and volume to the amp. Gain ranges up to 80s hard rock I´d say, so for metal or other higher gain styles, you´d need a pedal to boost the front end a bit. The AOR 100 sounds quite different to it´s little brother, the AOR30, which was featured before. The 4x EL34s add a lot more grind to the sound compared to the 6V6s, and the amp overall feels a lot stiffer. As with all AORs this amp is very versatile, so you can get great guitar tones from clean as a bell to fuzzy doom out of it. We´ll do another episode with the AOR 100 showing it´s higher gain side, so feel free to subscribe if you´re interested in that!
