RIP Karin Glenmark, 1952-2025 “How Do You Do?” - a cover of Mouth & MacNeals international smash hit - was recorded by Glenmarks in 1972 and released as the B-side of the single “Big Fat Orangumang.” It was the A-side that reached the Swedish charts and spent several weeks at Tio i Topp & Kvällstoppen October-November 1972. Glenmarks also recorded a cover in Swedish, Hur Står Det Till?, which became a notable radio success earlier the same year and was the first release with the new line-up. Glenmarks were a Swedish family group consisting of Karin and Anders Glenmark, their aunt Ann-Louise Hanson – already a very well-known and successful solo singer – and her husband Bruno Glenmark, who later also ran his own label. The family built their own recording studio in Stocksund, which became the base for many Swedish pop and schlager productions during the 1970s. Alongside her work with the group, Ann-Louise continued releasing solo material and touring. Many folk-park dates were even billed as “Ann-Louise & Glenmarks,” reflecting her established popularity and the family collaboration on stage. During this time, Karin and Anders were at the beginning of their individual careers. Anders had already begun writing his own material, a path that later led to a long and successful career as solo artist, songwriter, arranger and producer. The siblings also continued recording together after the Glenmarks years, appeared in Melodifestivalen, and eventually released two albums as the duo Gemini, with songs written and produced by Benny Andersson & Björn Ulvaeus. Karin additionally appeared in concert performances of Chess, composed by Benny & Björn. Enjoy!
