European leaders slam Trump tariffs amid push for U.S. purchase of Greenland

Trump announced on social media site Truth Social that he will impose a 10% tariff on goods from eight European nations because of their opposition to American control of Greenland: Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Finland. If no deal is reached, Trump said, tariffs would increase to 25% on June 1. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron both criticized the announcement this morning, and doubled down on their support for Denmark to maintain ownership of Greenland.
