How AI Is Changing Research and Education

From 3 to 7 November 2025, the University of Rennes hosted the first EDUC European Doctoral Seminar and Retreat, bringing together PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers from across Europe to explore Artificial Intelligence for Research and Education. Organised within the framework of the European University EDUC Alliance, the seminar gathered more than 100 participants and around twenty speakers from academia, research organisations, and industry. This video features interviews with participants and contributors, offering insights into: 👉 how AI is reshaping research practices and academic work, 👉 ethical and societal questions raised by artificial intelligence, 👉 the role of digital tools in research and higher education, 👉 the value of international exchange and collaboration for early-career researchers. The seminar combined conferences, workshops, round tables, and informal discussions, creating a space for reflection, experimentation, and dialogue at the intersection of research, pedagogy, and digital transformation. Organised in partnership with IRISA, the SequoIA Cluster, and the University of Rennes Foundation, the programme was co-developed with PhD students and researchers from the IRISA and CREM laboratories. This close collaboration strengthened links between laboratories, institutions, and regional and European stakeholders.
