A man came to the studio to report his brother over a serious dispute involving their late father’s farmland and lithium mining. According to him, their father was a traditionalist who married nine wives, and together they had many children. Out of all the children, 32 are still alive today. The complainant explained that his mother is the eighth wife and she has nine children. He said their father left behind a large piece of farmland for the family. One day, one of the brothers went to the farm and discovered that some people were already mining lithium there. After confronting them, the family reportedly reached an agreement with the miners to allow temporary mining in exchange for two bags of lithium daily, which later amounted to about ₦30 million. The brother accused in the complaint reportedly suggested that the money should be used to obtain a government mining licence so the operation could become legal. The family agreed and entrusted him with the responsibility of processing the documents. However, after waiting for a long time, the licence was never produced and the ₦30 million was also not accounted for. The situation later became more complicated when the same brother allegedly brought some Chinese investors and rented the farmland to them for ₦100 million for three years, collecting ₦50 million as an advance payment. Some family members said they were not aware of the deal until after it had already been made. Another disagreement started when the brother proposed that the money should be shared equally among the nine family houses (each wife’s household) by giving the share to the senior member in each house. Some siblings rejected this idea, arguing that it is not fair because the wives have different numbers of children. The accused brother, however, insisted that the sharing method follows their late father’s traditional way of sharing family property, since their father was neither Muslim nor Christian but a traditionalist. Today, the children practice different religions, including Islam, Christianity, and traditional beliefs, which has also contributed to the disagreement. After listening to both sides, the case was scheduled for mediation on a later date so that all parties can appear in the studio and the matter can be properly addressed Brekete Family is an award-winning Reality Radio and Television program focused on human rights, it airs on Human Rights Radio 101.1 in Abuja, Nigeria. #breketefamily #voiceofthevoiceless #humanrights #ordinarypresident 🌟 Don't miss out on our exciting content – make sure to hit that SUBSCRIBE BUTTON, LIKE, and SHARE. 🔔 Click the notification bell to stay updated with our latest videos and join our growing community.
