Dineo Seshee Raisibe Bopape is a South African artist known for immersive, emotionally resonant installations exploring land, memory, and spiritual experience. For Folkestone Triennial 2025: How Lies the Land?, she presents Ka Pheko ye (curse dissolved)—a sculptural offering made from local materials and shaped by African cosmologies. Topped with a “spirit house” rooted in ancestral tradition, the work reflects Bopape’s deep engagement with healing, inheritance, and the politics of place. Etched with the words “Curse Dissolved,” it becomes a blessing, a release, and an invitation to imagine transformation through care, presence, and connection to the land. ABOUT CREATIVE FOLKESTONE Creative Folkestone is a visionary arts charity and placemaking organisation dedicated to making Folkestone a great place to live, work, play, study and visit.
