The term “ptosis” is derived from the Greek word falling. Acquired adult ptosis is further classified based upon the etiological factors as Aponeurotic ptosis Neurogenic ptosis Myogenic ptosis Mechanical ptosis Traumatic ptosis Ptosis or Blepharoptosis is known as the drooping of the upper eyelid, and the patient usually presents with the complaint of the defect in vision and cosmesis. It can be congenital or acquired, or it can be neurogenic, myogenic, aponeurotic, mechanical, or traumatic in origin. Dermatochalasis is a term used to describe the presence of loose and redundant eyelid skin. It is a common sign of periocular aging and is often seen in middle-aged and elderly people. Although more dramatically seen in the upper eyelids, dermatochalasis can also affect lower eyelids as well. Tarsal plate repair. Tarsal plate forms the structural skeleton of the eyelid and is made up of dense connective tissue. The vertical height is 10 to 12 mm in the upper eyelid and 4 to 5 mm in the lower lid. The tarsal plates contain the Meibomian glands, the orifices of which open posterior to the grey line. Please go through the training programs at Dr Rams Medical Coding Academy.
