Ken Follett has written a magnificent three volume series of the 20th Century. Known as the 'CENTURY TRILOGY'. Volume One - Fall of Giants Volume Two - Winter of the World Volume Three - Edge of Eternity Three entertaining and vigorous narratives which take civilisation from the the war to end all wars, the birth of Communism to the fall of the Berlin Wall. Jam packed with characters and events who all live under the thumb of history over a century. It is not a seminal text of 20th century history but it is a great insight into the lives of individuals coming to terms with the unravelling of the old world as the new world for good and bad turns the world on its head. In a sense the Century Trilogy is a soap opera on a grand scale. Yet, the narrative of history shines bright in the lives of multiple dynastic characters live through the juggernaut of history that cares not for the individual. However, it is individuals who make and live through history. Ken Follett delivers a masterpiece in historical fiction that demands your reading discipline to get from volume one to volume three. A worthy and entertaining reading experience. I highly recommend this great and entertaining narrative history. It is fiction in the guise of documentary and memoir.
