A fascinating historical documentary professionally narrated on the gold mining boom towns of Nevada City and Virginia City, Montana. This film features historical archival photographs of placer mining, gold panning including rare imagery of vintage gold dredges and sluice boxes. The discovery of gold in Alder Gulch, Montana in the 1860’s resulted in a boomtown with 10,000 residents. As a result, Virginia City became the territorial capital (taking that honor away from Bannack, Montana) . Today Nevada City is one of the most historically significant ghost towns in the Rocky Mountain Northwest with wonderfully preserved original buildings. This documentary touches on many historical subjects with photography of stage coaches, miners cabins, general stores, barber shops, blacksmith shop, schoo houses and the towns people … and much more including original paintings by Charles M. Russell and Jeffrey Maki, and vintage music machines, vintage mining equipment, and many scenes from the 19th Century. (@Nostalgia and Vintage History) Please note that archival historical images are in the public domain. Many thanks to wikimedia.org. Color photos and Art (excluding Russell imagery) are copyrighted by Jeffrey Maki. Music is licensed by IMovie.
