Welcome to Perky's Analog Gear Demos. Please subscribe! This is it! The all-original, 1974, Bud Box, Script Logo...Phase 90! The holy grail of all phasers :-) The first pedal released by MXR (in the days before they were bought out by Dunlop - back when MXR was just a few guys hand-building every pedal in a basement!) the Phase 90 has become the benchmark phaser over the years - favoured by everybody from Eddie Van Halen to David Gilmour. These first versions of the P90 have 6 Op-Amp chips (quickly reduced down to 3 in subsequent years) giving them a warmer tone, a smoother phase shift & a less metallic sound than the circuit revisions that followed. It's thicker & less subtle than a Small Stone...and boy, is it inspiring! Guitar is a Fender Strat through a Hughes & Kettner Puretone, recorded with a simple SM57 and an sE Electronics RNR1 Ribbon.
