This is the grave, in Carrowdore Church of Christ churchyard, on the Ards Peninsula, of leading Ulster and UK poet /academic/lecturer, Louis MACNEICE. Born in Belfast 1907 and died 1963, early childhood in Carrickfergus and later life in Qxford and throughout England. I was wondering why out of all the places Louis MacNeice had visited and lived at he was buried at this spot away in the middle of the Ards Peninsula. this is where his grandfather came from and hence the family grave was here. He died on 4 September 1963, in London and is buried beside his mother (who died of TB when he was a child) and his grandfather.
