“Jerry Was A Race Car Driver” by PRIMUS off their 1991 release “Sailing the Seas of Cheese” 🧀 Like many others from my generation, my first exposure to this song was via the soundtrack for Tony Hawks Pro Skater 🛹 It was peculiar sounding to my ears at the time, but certainly an ear-worm, and years later when I acquired this album, I had a funny “ah ha” moment of realizing I’d heard this song many times while playing that video game 🙂‍↕️ I love Tim Alexander’s use of double bass on this track. He had a way of implementing the double bass drum parts in a more lyrical, melodic way, letting them handle more of the action and color while the hands play more of a supportive role on top. It’s a breath of fresh air stylistically, and one of the many components of Tim’s style that I love.
