Back once again, Germany's own Split returns to After Dark Music [ADM] following his recent debut Australian show hosted by the label. The Savannah EP is what we've come to expect from Split, a five track exhibition of mastery at 140 beats per minute. Built for late night sessions and heavyweight sound systems, this one hits with all the creativity and inventiveness so often characteristic of Split's production. The title track, Savannah, features cinematic vocals and a moody melody that paints landscapes in your mind. Expressions rides the same wave, bringing a starkness and pensive depth. On the other hand, Steel Grind is a certified weapon: pure grit and relentless pressure. Meanwhile in 7 Down we get the best of both, with rolling bassweight alongside brooding and ethereal textures.
