This shows a foot roll rig experiment for rolling a foot where the toe is lifted off the ground plane with the goal of reducing foot roll counter animation. Skip ahead to 5:18 to see the experiment first, if you want... I thought it would be fun to share this little rig experiment where I was trying to get a more natural looking foot roll when the toe of the foot is raised up off the ground instead of flat on the ground plane (you know... like how shoes actually look). It automatically drops the toe down to the ground plane in the process of the roll before activating the toe tip rotation of the roll so an animator doesn't have to - at the very least, it should drastically reduce the amount of counter animation needed during the foot roll process. This video is not really a tutorial of how to do this... I start by showing basically how my foot rig works. After that, I go into the explanation of the raised toe foot roll addition and demonstrate it. Then I give a brief explanation of how I did it. 00:00 - intro and basic overview 02:48 - reason for experiment 04:51 - experimental solution 09:08 - brief description of solution
