X Spells have been around since the beginning of the game, and have always been good, but not the best thing ever. The ability to scale with the game means that they’re always online, but they’re always less efficient than other cards. Making a card that is intentionally worse than other cards at the same mana cost but is still worth playing despite this downside is very difficult, which is why a lot of X spells end up being quite bad.
