As I worked on this page, starting with a master board, a metaphor unfolded before my eyes. The stages of a master board and subsequent cutting are like the stages of life, more specifically, the lives of our children. When creating art, we should be in no hurry to produce the result - that would be like wishing our babies and toddlers would just be adults already. Enjoy each stage! The first layers of collage may be covered with more layers (of time), but it's fun and should be enjoyed! As it grows and develops it becomes more dynamic and interesting and acquires more details and expressions. When the master board is complete (like graduating our children into adulthood) the page is flipped over and blindly cut into pieces. The future seems like a blank slate; endless possibilities. Each piece will be a chapter in their adult lives, influenced by their childhood, but each its own work of art. Some are more exciting than others, but there is something special about each one. I found a quote that fit this concept perfectly - "Embrace uncertainty. Some of the most beautiful chapters in our lives won't have a title until much later." - Bob Goff. I went on to check out this Bob Goff fellow and he is a really cool guy. An ex-lawyer who decided he wanted to live a more meaningful life, so he started building schools in Uganda. Now he's 65 and has a podcast. If you have questions about specific supplies, ask in the comments, I will try to answer best I am able. Art Journaling in my Composition Notebook Part 20
