SCUBA DIVING IN AUSTRALIA-YONGALA SHIPWRECK & MAGNETIC ISLAND DAY TRIP, TOWNSVILLE.

On 23 March 1911, 122 passengers onboard the S.S. Yongala were lost at sea. A 7 day search found no trace of the missing vessel, and for almost 50 years the Yongala was lost to the ocean. 100 years on the ocean floor has allowed the Yongala to develop into its own ecosystem, and the wreck is now home to hundreds of different species of fish, rays, turtles and corals. The combination of the wreck’s mysterious history and the vast amount of resident marine life make the Yongala a must-do bucket list dive, positioned in Alva Beach (Ayr, QLD). Due to our "no fly time" after diving we headed to Magnetic island for the day.
