Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is the next installment in Capcom’s Monster Hunter Stories series, a turn-based RPG spin-off of the main Monster Hunter franchise. Unlike the action-focused hunting gameplay of the mainline titles, the Stories series places players in the role of a Rider who forms bonds with monsters, known as Monsties, raising and fighting alongside them in party-based, strategic combat. The narrative begins when a mysterious egg hatches into twin Rathalos, an event that draws Riders into a larger conflict involving war, fate, and the fragile balance between humans and nature. Gameplay centers on the relationship between Riders and their Monsties. Players raise and nurture a team of monsters, strengthening their abilities and unlocking new skills through bonding and progression. Battles use a turn-based system where Riders and Monsties fight together, emphasizing tactical decision-making and team composition. New and expanded mechanics add depth to exploration and progression. One of these is Habitat Restoration, which allows players to influence ecosystems by protecting endangered species and helping restore monster populations. The game’s world is presented through stylized 3D environments that reflect the story’s themes of political conflict and environmental instability, offering varied regions to explore as the narrative unfolds. As the third main entry in the Monster Hunter Stories series, Twisted Reflection continues the spin-off’s focus on character-driven storytelling and monster companionship while introducing modern refinements. Returning monsters alongside new narrative elements aim to provide a balance of familiarity and fresh content for both longtime fans and newcomers to the series.
