If anybody conceived with difficulty like going through an IVF pregnancy or going through some fertility treatment, they do fall under the category of high risk pregnancy. Also people who have been diagnosed to have diabetes or hypertension even before you become pregnant or any other medical disorders like you could be having liver disorders, you have renal transplant and then you have conceived, all these people fall under the risk of High risk pregnancy. Any pregnancy can become high risk because it’s a physiological change which happens. Due to these physiological changes, there are many mothers who are prone to become diabetic or hypertensive. If you end up becoming diabetic, we call you GDM or hypertensive that is Pregnancy induced hypertension. And then you fall under high risk pregnancy. If you have a bad obstetric history in the past where there are recurrent abortions or you have had some abnormal babies, having a down’s syndrome or having a physiological change in the baby or anatomical defects in the baby also makes you high risk pregnancy.
