Kaplan hosted Vermilion Catholic in Week 4 of the 2019 LHSAA football season. VC returned the opening kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown. On the ensuing kickoff, the Eagles recovered the onside kick. Five plays later, the Eagles scored on a 15 yard touchdown run at 9:40 of the first quarter to go up 14-0. VC added a field goal to go up 17-0 before the first quarter concluded. Kaplan finally put a drive together in the second quarter, marching 78 yards on 22 plays and eating up 10 minutes of clock. The scoring drive was capped by a 4 yard touchdown run by Senior RB Kevin White. White added the two point conversion to make the score 17-8 at half. Kaplan fumbled on their first drive of the second half, giving VC the ball at the 50 yard line. The Eagles marched 50 yards on 8 plays and scored on a 15 yard run to make the score 25-8. After the Pirates recovered an Eagle fumble, White scored another touchdown but the conversion attempt failed, making the score to 25-14. Kaplan scored again late in the 4th on a Nate Sistrunk 1 yard touchdown run. Once again the conversion attempt failed to make the score 25-20 with very little time left. With VC leading and facing fourth down with four seconds remaining, the VC RB took the handoff and ran toward his own end zone for a safety as time expired to seal the game 25-22. The Pirates were led on offense by Senior RB duo Kevin White (18-104-2) and Nate Sistrunk (13-85-1). The Pirates fell to 2-2 on the season with the loss, their first to the Eagles.
