Late Summer of 2023 my wife and I flew from KHNZ (Henderson/Oxford) airport and headed north towards the border of North Carolina and Virginia. We use Baofeng two-meter radios to communicate with each other and I also carry an ICOM A16 aviation band radio to talk to traffic at the airport. On this flight we encountered traffic at the airport on our return to land. I thought this was a good example to share of paramotor pilots and general aviation pilots communicating well on the radio. I didn't capture my radio call announcing our departure, but all other radio calls are included. We also use a mobile application called Gaggle that provides in flight audio announcements regarding any traffic in our vicinity. You will hear the automated voice from Gaggle warning me of traffic altitude and location relative to me. The highlight of the flight was my wife and I, paramotor flight of two, on the downwind leg getting a front row seat of a departing aircraft who called "Ah, Looking good over there! Beautiful Day!". In the end, the goal is to clearly communicate intentions, be courteous, and work together to keep everyone safe. 01:40 Launch 02:25 Announcing crossing of R24 threshold to transition to other side of the runway 02:50 Gaggle - "Caution small airplane on your 12 O'clock flying SE at 3000 ft..." 03:35 Susan spots traffic and confirms, no factor for us. 04:20 Low flight inspection of field, horses spotted so we depart to avoid disturbing them. 05:25 BBQ 06:40 Chasing Susan 08:50 Deer spotted 09:20 Returning to airport, inform Susan of traffic in the pattern at KHNZ 09:30 Susan communicates she is circling to avoid the airport until we link back up 10:00 Plane reporting in the pattern for R6 at KHNZ 10:10 1st call to airport, 3.5 miles out and inbound for landing and we have traffic in sight 11:00 Traffic in pattern reports departing to the South, so no factor for us now 11:15 2nd call to airport, report intention to cross midfield to land in the grass near A3 11:30 3rd call to airport, report entering left downwind for R6 11:49 4th call to airport, I notice an aircraft not seen before preparing to takeoff from R6 12:05 Back and forth comms with aircraft to coordinate 14:45 Landing
