John: 'Instant Karma!' was a case of the idea of instant karma coming to me. Everybody was talking about karma all of a sudden, always going on about it, especially in the 60's, but it’s still around now and it occurred to me that karma is instant as well as one life, this life, which no-one really knows about anyway – your past life or your future life – those kind of influences that do or do not exist according to your taste or beliefs – that the actual instant karma, the action reaction, is what that is, what it’s about. And like I say, I’m fascinated by commercials and promotion as an art form! You know, the TV commercials and the commercials in newspapers fascinate me, because I enjoy them, you know, and so instant karma was like instant coffee. Presenting it in a new form. It’s like they say about karma, you have to come back and go through that thing again if you don’t get it right this lifetime. Well, those laws that are, sort of 'cosmically' talked about, accepted or not accepted, but you know, the ones they all talk about we’re all always referring to. They apply down to the minutest detail of life, too! It’s like instant karma, which is my way of saying it happens about a cup of coffee or anything. It’s not just some big cosmic thing. It’s that as well, but it’s also the small things like your life here, and your relationship with the person you want to live with and be with, that there are laws governing that relationship, too. Yoko: What the sort of, so-called leaders don’t understand is when they are saying something about, 'We should do this, or do that,' actually they are working out their own karma. There might be some need in them to be violent or something like that, you know. But you can’t really, sort of push that on other people. So, it’s a very sticky area.
