On today's webinar, Professor Oliva Gaetano will discuss Canine Babesiosis: A challenge for veterinarians. This session will cover some important topics, including: • Species overview • Infections and immune status concomitantly • Symptoms and signs of clinical illness • Diagnostic evaluation methods • Treatment (Treatment) Professor Oliva graduated from the Naples Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Professor Oliva's research interests include the pathogenesis, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of veterinary and zoonotic vector-borne diseases, especially canine leishmaniasis. Besides being a member of the Italian SCIVAC group for studying canine leishmaniasis (CLWG), he is also a founding member of the LeishVet group for standardizing the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of canine leishmaniasis. He has extensive research collaborations with the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, Rome, Italy, in particular the “Reparto di Malattie trasmesse da Vettori e Sanità Internazionale Dipartimento di Malattie Infettive, Parasite e Immunomediate” (MIPI), which develops preventive strategies against canine and human Leishmaniasis. Professor Oliva was the head of the Veterinary Faculty of Naples, Italy, from 2016 to 2021; today he is the head of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) of the Faculty. Prof Oliva is considered one of the most relevant European experts on Canine Vector-Borne Diseases because of his scientific and clinical background.
