Aaaah now, you NEED this video before any electricity meter accuracy tests can be performed. Let's do this! So, this video covers all of the electrical equipment which will be needed in order to pull-off an electricity meter accuracy test. Most of the accuracy tests will be in-basic 0.1 kWh tests, just to keep the videos short and to-the-point. Where a three-phase meter is to be tested, there will be THREE tests carried out on that meter, due to the fact that there will be three coil-sets in there, and each coil-set will have its own adjusters and so therefore, could provide different test results on each coil set, and one of them could be over or under the permitted tolerances.... So all are tested! Years ao, when I performed an accuracy test, all I needed, were some pieces of wire to join the testing meter to the meter being subjected to the test, a plug, socket and a 3kW water heater as a load. Boy, times change! (and become more expensive!) For future accuracy tests on this channel I'll be using: Electricity Meter Accuracy Testing Board (Ev. 3), Phantom Loading Unit, (Original Evolution) Variable auto transformer, 10A rated (Variac) 110v centre-tapped site transformer* (Phantom Source ) 3kW water heater* (Load Control for precise variac) Bits to join that lot together: Patch Cord: Site transformer to Phantom Loading Unit Power Cord: Supplies power to the whole rig Fun-Jiggery-Pokery Unit (See below for details) *= The 3kW water heater and the site transformer are connected IN SERIES via the Fun-Jiggery-Pokery Unit (or the Mini Jiggy as an alternative) and this allows very precise setting of the variac, as discussed in this video. On the rear of the Meter Accuracy Testing Board is a length of cable, and this would allow for In-Situ testing of the meter to be tested, should that be needed, without having to dis-mount the meter from its in-service position. In future videos, the room in which this whole rig will be used, there is a screw-hole on the wall, and a screw is placed into that hole, upon which is attached the test subject. Having the axis of the loadwheel vertical is very important, as-is having the loadwheel horizontal in both planes (left-to-right and front-to-back) so that the test meter runs correctly. BEFORE WE GO INTO ANY ACCURACY TESTS, I DO need to point out the following points of future videos: At the beginning of each accuracy test video, all of the equipment will be shown prior to the test-subject being brought in front of the camera. This is so that, anyone so-happening to land on any particular accuracy test vid anywhere in the future, they will get to see the whole rig which is used to pull-off that particular test. This will save me from being repeatedly asked the same question over and over in reference to the testing kit being used, and my having to direct them to this video again and again. Please try to understand this. Soon, there will be accuracy tests appearing here on Wayne's Electrical. THERE IS A PLAYLIST where all of the accuracy tests will be placed so if you wish to re-watch any accuracy test later on, that is where you will find them: In the Accuracy Tests Playlist. Accuracy tests coming soon. DO STAY TUNED! Thanks for watching, -Wayne's Electrical.
