Sharing my thoughts on the recent discussions currently going on around ceramides and how effective they actually are when it comes to skin barrier support. Ceramides are an essential part of our skin makeup and they promote hydration, prevent trans epidermal water loss and support with healthy barrier function. They have become one of the most viral skincare ingredients in the past couple of years and many say they would not be without ceramides in their skincare routine. Whilst a lot of people will reach for CeraVe for their ceramide fix the brand actually has relatively low levels of ceramides in their products, something in keeping with a lot of the ceramide brands out there.
