JON LORD... My hero and inspiration has sadly passed away. He was simply the greatest. He was my biggest influence as a Rock keyboardist. Here I present my humble Tribute video and would like to share with all his fans around the world. I reveal some personal memories, never before seen photos, and show off some of my prized collections. NOT to "show off-show off", but to show what a kind gentleman he was and how much he truly appreciated all his fans, even THIS Korean sick weirdo. Made on tears and sighs, but I hope all the fans will have a smile remembering his charm and his great music. This video features the maestro playing the beloved Korean folk song "Arirang" (아리랑) during his piano solo. "Arirang" (아리랑) has been acknowledged as UNESCO's (유네스코) intangible cultural heritage December 2012. May his unending passion for Music and sheer greatness live on and on and on.... Thank you Mr. LORD.... Your music will live forever.... |m|_ //-_- _|m/ ***** a few notes ***** Of course I have every single DEEP PURPLE (and related bands') albums autographed, but I tried to "avoid" the obvious ones and selected the albums that are usually overlooked (and my personal favorites), and wish that one can appreciate the broad spectrum of his Musical trails and works. For DEEP PURPLE's first concert in Seoul full version, Search for "Something Special with DEEP PURPLE" (1995). It's a 2CD bootleg that I bought in Tokyo the next year. (I'm not sending files out to anyone). JON LORD's portrait in the intro/outro taken from his official website : http://jonlord.org/ The vocal soloists for JON LORD's concerto (2009) in Seoul were Kasia Laska & Steve Balsamo. Balsamo pulled a fantastic "Child in Time" by the way. I feel like humming "Where are you" from his solo album "Before I forget" (which is one of my absolute favorites from him) right now.The song will never sound the same. For those of you fans out there who wants to know the emotional, down-to-Earth side of the Master, listen to that song.... If you ask me, the best concert I ever saw would be DEEP PURPLE's 2nd show in Korea. In the pouring rain like there was a hole in the sky, it was the first ever outdoor festival that went down in the mud ("Triport" then , now called "Pentaport") and cancelled after that first night. I was right there from start to finish becoming a mudman myself. Search "Deep Purple Triport" here on Youtube and you'll find their greatest hit track "Smoke on the water" from that show. That version is embedded in me. Since that night I have totally lost the fear of the rain or getting wet at all and never ever used an umbrella again. There's a few more stories and words of wisdom that I personally heard... But I decided to keep them to myself. I need them as a Musician. Please spare me. In DEEP PURPLE's 2010 concert, another Keyboard virtuoso & Mr. LORD's successor : DON AIREY, must've heard the myth from inside the band, and played "Arirang" again during his Keyboard solo time. Along with one of his greatest piece : the intro for "Mr. Crowley". As a witness who was there on both occasions, the places went nuts just as the same. And before anyone asks, NO - my Hammond organ is not for sale. NEVER. .
