Friction reducers have evolved over the years to become the primary additive on a frac location. This additive performs differently depending on the water source (fresh or brines), additives used in conjunction with the FR, and type of FR used (emulsion or slurry base). The objectives of this webinar are to explain the differences in emulsions versus slurries, to review the various test methods used to evaluate the FR’s, and to review the resulting data generated to evaluate conventional and High Viscosity Friction Reducers such as flow loop data, viscosity measured over the shear rate range of interest and elasticity data. Elastic versus non-elastic behavior will be illustrated using the 3D model.
