Guys this is the #Isaccea border crossing between Romania and Ukraine. It is important because it is the Eastern most crossing in Romania and the one that is the Southernmost for Ukraine and closest to #Odessa. So if Odessa is invaded, this crossing will become the closest exit point to flee and it will get very busy. It is a water crossing over the Danube River by ferryboat. One boat leaves every three hours and it is only about 500m between both countries over the Danube. Like at every border, the support has been outstanding, with all manner of volunteers working hard to offer services to the refugees. The refugees do not lack anything, as soon as they cross the border formally they are met personally by an aid worker and translator and taken to tents to be fed, clothed and documented and offered a range of services including food and accommodation. I decided not to interview any refugees who are straight from a war zone into comfort and just want to relax and get warm. It was a bitterly cold day. To all the other volunteers, politia, pompieri and local residents, I salute all of you as well and bravo for a great job.
