This is the longer version of how to start a fire with flint and steel. There is also a short version on my channel, frankly it took a lot of self control (for me) to keep this under 20 minutes. I really like to get into every aspect and avenue of what it is i'm doing and teaching. Flint (chert - quarts silica-something or other) is a family of rock that seems to more resemble glass. and steel is steel. High carbon to be precise, not that weak stainless that everyone brags aboot. And the char cloth is great when you've already had a fire (next up on my "to do" list is make a video of why people use ferro rods over all other forms of portable fire starting.
