"Alabama now ranks in the top 3 states with some of the highest utility bills in the country. Alabama Power has a monopoly in Montgomery. Huntsville Utilities received massive amounts of pandemic credit money and passed it on to corporations. Now legislators want us to believe that having an appointed public service commission in Montgomery and areas served by Alabama Power will be beneficial? NO!!!!!!! It wont. If they take our right to vote, and switch us from an elected to an appointed position, it will pave the way for companies like Alabama Power to donate openly even to legislators. This will insulate regulators from accountability. Katie Britt's husband worked for Alabama Power,.and is now employed by a lobbying company. HB 392, sponsored by Alabama State Representative Chip Brown ,will be disastrous, in my opinion. Farmers have already struggled with utility issues, and this is definitely not the solution." HB 392 will not fix this problem. It will only complicate it.
