Calukmul Jungle Ruins What an amazing day this was, we got up early to go rent a car and go on a mexican road trip to the calukmul jungle ruins in the campeche region on mexico. If you have never heard of these ruins before there are in the middle of the jungle in the middle of nowhere. Its a mayan ruin site about 1500 years old with MULTIPLE pyramids you can climb and overlook the whole jungle. the tallest pyramid is around 150ft with the second one being about 130ft. They we so amazing to see and climb in real life. I could only imagine building all those structures 1500 years ago, the man power needed and the size of them astounded me. If only walls could talk im sure they would have some amazing stories. We ended up getting to see LOTS of wild turkeys on the way in and on the way out as well. But i was so happy we got to see some monkeys, it turned out to be a mom and dad with their little one trying to keep up with them.TOO COOL Unfortunately we wernt able to see any panthers or jaguars because it was so hot out. The whole day it hovered around the 35 degree mark which made climbing multiple pyramids that much harder but totally worth it. I cannot wait until I am back in this area and spend the whole day there checking out this HUGE site. No tourist buses or anything like that just completely in the middle of no where which is the way i like it.
