This may sound odd, as the filtration is at constant pressure so why should the cake concentration and resistance vary? They both do, as the pressure drop over the cake varies; the total pressure drop may remain constant, but the proportion of that pressure drop between the filter cake, and the filter medium changes all the time. At the start all the pressure drop is over the filter medium, at the end of the filtration most of the pressure drop is over the filter cake. Hence, the cake concentration and resistance will vary.
