Removal of breast implants, in a patient who has breast implant illness, can and will improve the symptoms of a pre-existing autoimmune disease. When a patient has breast implant illness, they have by definition inflammation associated with their implants. Inflammation as a whole, can worsen the symptoms of autoimmune diseases and even unmask autoimmune diseases. If a patient has inflammation associated with their implants and the implants are removed, the source of that inflammation is therefore removed, and autoimmune diseases will often improve.
