But only one man can claim to be the most genetically gifted bodybuilder of them all. Sergio Oliva was bodybuilding’s initial freak, a genetic marvel that possessed an unmatched level of size and muscular beauty. Sporting a 29” waist, the same size as his legs, and colossal arms that outsized his head, the fiery Cuban refugee dominated bodybuilding like no one before and was the only man in history to defeat Arnold Schwarzenegger on an Olympia stage, earning the greatest nickname in bodybuilding: “The Myth”. But just when he was at the peak of his career, it all came crashing down. After incurring the wrath of the IFBB, he vanished for a whole decade and was forced to compete in inferior contests before nearly getting k!lled by his wife. So many things weren’t certain in Sergio’s storied career, what if he hadn’t vanished during what could’ve been his peak decade? What if he hadn’t stirred the hornet's nest that is the Weiders? And what if he had been featured in Pumping Iron? To the fans, one thing was for sure however, Sergio Oliva will forever be The Myth.
