In January 2026, I traveled to Oxford, UK to write my preliminary exams (or comprehensive exams) for my PhD. I did this for several reasons, most importantly because this milestone achievement is a make-or-break moment in my program. I have to succeed, and when asked "where would you work if you could work anywhere?" I knew immediately the answer was Oxford. When I first traveled to Oxford in August, I felt mediocrity shed off my shoulders like a burden from an old life. I saw myself, I actualized myself. I knew, with how significant this would be, that I could focus and get the work done in Oxford. My husband was NOT on board - I want to be clear - this was a significant burden on my family. However, eventually my husband came on board and we worked out how and why this would work. My best friend (JoAngeli Kasper) met me in London, and we went to OXford. Eventually, our good friends from Accepted Society (shout out to Kaelyn Grace Apple!) arrived. We went to Cambridge with Kaelyn and met up with Martine who showed us around her town. When we were studying in Oxford, utilizing the Bodleian libraries, we studying at Radcliffe Camera, Vere Harmsworth, and the Divinity School.
