Fuel price volatility continues to shape Nigeria’s energy market as the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced its petrol ex-depot price to about ₦1,075 per litre, days after raising it to ₦1,175. The adjustment comes as global oil prices surge above $100 per barrel, stirred by geopolitical tensions involving Iran and disruptions to energy supply routes. While higher crude prices may boost government revenues because Nigeria’s 2026 budget benchmark sits far below current market levels, the same surge has intensified the cost-of-living pressure on households and businesses through higher transport, logistics and energy costs.
