The D-handle is much easier to use and more comfortable than the standard straight handle use on most chop saws. Abrasive saws, also known as a cut-off saw or metal chop saw, are used to cut a wide variety of metals. The cut performed by an abrasive disc, similar to a thin grinding wheel used on hand held grinders. The disks on abrasive saws are consumable items as they wear throughout the cut. The abrasive disks for these saws are typically 14" in diameter and 7⁄64" thick. There are disks available for different grades of steel and stainless steel.
