Raj Kapoor Fellow, Chief Firmware Architect - AMD, Srini Narayana VP, Boot Firmware - American Megatrends (AMI) As open platforms become central to datacenter innovation, the demand for robust, scalable, and production-grade open-source firmware is growing across enterprise and cloud service providers. Project Mu, an open-source UEFI implementation, is designed with scalability and maintainability at its core. AMDs openSIL is an emerging framework for silicon initialization designed to align with this trend, enabling modular, host-agnostic firmware integration. This session will explore how Tianocores EDKII, Microsofts Project Mu, and AMDs openSIL are being used together to build flexible, transparent firmware solutions for next-generation datacenter platforms. While openSIL is still evolving toward full silicon coverage, platforms like AMD Venice are pioneering its integration. Well also highlight AMDs proposed open-source governance model for openSIL and how it sets the stage for long-term ecosystem sustainability and community collaboration.
