Near Fort Robinson State Park in Nebraska, a Northern Cheyenne monument serves to honor the tribe’s ancestors who fought for their freedom to return to their land in Montana. Now, the Northern Cheyenne Journey Home Committee is developing a trail there as a space for members of the tribe and visitors to reflect and heal. This tribe is along the route of the Great American Rail-Trail™, and is a powerful example of the trail’s role in connecting people to the past and present of the country’s history and heritage.
