If you walk into any automotive showroom today you will be welcomed with salespersons offering you very attractive discounts on almost any vehicle. Take the Tata Harrier in this video, you can get a discount of up to Rs 1.4 lakh off on this car, and this is a published official discount, not like the unofficial three lakh discount you can get on the Maruti-Suzuki Jimny. Then take the Mahindra XUV700 top variants the AX7 and AX7L, there are discounts of upwards of two lakh on those cars. And the luxury car market there is a bloodbath, with discounts ranging upwards of ten lakh rupees on some cars. But why are carmakers offering such huge discounts? Despite growth slowing to a trickle, the Indian automotive market saw growth of just three percent in the first quarter of Financial Year 2024-2025 as compared to the same period last year, there is still growth.
