Rúm must be one of the wildest places I have explored and wild camped. Only reachable by ferry Rúm is a 100km square island in the Inner Hebrides, the largest of the small Isles. With a red deer population of 1000 and a human population of around 40 we did not meet another soul as we ventured from the only village on the Island, Kinloch. Kinloch Castle, the deer, wild goats, sea caves and isolated bothies made the experience memorable and enchanting. A truly amazing place. We spent two nights at Guirdil Bothy then hiked to the wild Kilmory beach at the north of the Island to spend a memorable nights wild camping. A totally memorable experience that will stay with me.
