Oasis Location: Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A Venue: Rosemont Horizon Date: 17th January 1998 Source: Multi-Sourced Recording (Thieving Magpie Merge) Returning to Chicago (after a Liamless performance in 1996) the band play the Rosemont Horizon. This show is perhaps the most famous one from the year, as it was captured on a soundboard, and with footage recorded from the audience it has been bootlegged lots of times over the years. This anniversary upload includes the soundboard source filled in with audience sources which patch in any missing banter, and It’s Getting Better Man and Champagne Supernova, which were omitted from the former source. The audience here is very receptive to the band tonight, and give a fantastic atmosphere to the gig. As for the performance, Liam sounds pretty great for the most part here, and the rest of the band also put on an energetic performance. Noel’s acoustic set though really takes the take though as it’s helps make this show possibly have the finest setlist of 1998. Along with the usual songs like Don’t Go Away and Talk Tonight with his cover of To Be Someone, Slide Away is played for the only time in any capacity on the tour, a rendition which perhaps has gotten a life of it’s own outside of it’s parent gig. The crowd also loves it, and sing along to most of the songs with Noel. Overall, it’s definitely worth the praise, but all these January 1998 gigs are very consistently great.
