JASPER CONRAN UNVEILS AN ITALIAN PRET A PORTER SUMMER FOR 2006 Jasper Conran unveiled a Spring/Summer 2006 collection inspired by the starlets of 1950s Italy, at London Fashion Week Wednesday (21SEP05). The catwalk show, at the Royal Academy of Arts in central London, was inspired by the idea of Sophia Loren and her contemporaries walking down a cobbled street during a break from filming - all curves and easy sexuality. Tops were simple, while skirts were complicated, nipped, tucked and pleated to emphasise the waist and hips. Some came with high waists and a pencil line, others were full, all were feminine. The Conran colour palette included plenty of black, white and muted colours. Hair and make up was deliberately natural , with dark eyes and tousled hair giving a lived in, just back from a good night out feel.
